Park Overview:
Consider Greenburgh Nature Center an island of green rising inside a dense commercial area of central Westchester County.
Park Description:
Because the Greenburgh Nature Center is on both the Atlantic and Hudson River flyways, there are over 140 species of birds that either visit or nest on the property. The center is home to an array of flora and fauna in its woodlands, wetlands, and orchard. Mushrooms and other fungi compose an integral part of the identified biota because of the efforts of Sylvia Stein, an amateur naturalist and mycologist who was active at the center before her death in 2001.
There is an admission fee to the Manor House with a live animal display, discovery room, greenhouse, and changing nature-arts exhibit.
Trails Overview:
This compact trail system wanders through forest, wetlands, and former orchard. There are cross trails, narrow paths in the rock garden, and trails that connect to a trail system at adjacent Edgemont High School. The Sylvia Stein Nature Trail features fungi
