Document Retention and Destruction Policy
It is the policy of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference (the "Trail Conference") to provide for the complete and accurate archiving of records for the period of their anticipated use, and to discard them thereafter unless longer retention is required for historical reference, for contractual or regulatory compliance, or for other purposes as stated in this policy (the "Policy").

Trail Use Policy
The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference (Trail Conference) recognizes that final decisions about permitted trail uses lie with the managers of the lands on which the trails lie. The role of the Trail Conference is to make well-considered recommendations regarding trail use designations and associated education and enforcement activities.

Trail Management Policy
Building and maintaining hiking trails is a core service that the Trail Conference provides. This Trail Management Policy specifies the fundamental principles and guidelines governing the management of the trails for which we are responsible. Further details about how this policy is implemented are contained in the practice and procedure documents referenced including the Trail Management Guide.
